The Tempozan Ferris Wheel at the Tempozan Harbor Village in Osaka, Japan soars 112.5 meters into the air and has a diameter of 100 meters, making it one of the world’s largest Ferris wheels. One full circuit on Japan’s biggest Ferris wheel takes about 17 minutes. It was opened in 1997 and the designs on all the Ferris wheel’s gondolas are being changed according to the weather report for the following day, featuring suns, clouds or umbrellas. People who live around the Ferris wheel use it as a forecast bulletin board. I saw umbrellas being projected today :). This Ferris Wheel is on the perfect spot around the Osaka port, it give an amazing view of the scenary from above.

There are 2 types of gondolas in this Ferris Wheel, one is a regular gondola and the other one is a transparent-see-through base gondola. I am not a person who is good with heights, so I chose the regular gondola! If you want to ride the see-through gondola, there is typically a waiting time of around 25 min in the queue!

The Ferris Wheel is about 35-45 min from the Shin-Osaka station, and is just adjacent to the Osaka Aquarium. The Tempozan Harbour Village by itself has a variety of stuffs to do like the Osaka Aquarium, there is a Legoland Discovery Center next to this place and there is also a Santa Maria cruise. I will write about these in the upcoming blogs.
The Ferris Wheel lits up with beautiful colors during the night, so please do not miss it if you are a person who like lights! The entry fee for the Ferris Wheel is 800 yen. You do get some discounts if you get combined tickets for the Ferris Wheel and the aquarium or the Santa Maria cruise.
Here are some photos I took in this beautiful place!
