Nagarhole National Park, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is a wildlife reserve in the South Indian state of Karnataka, India. Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the park is backed by the Brahamagiri Mountains and filled with sandalwood and teak trees. The Kabini River winds through jungle landscapes, home to tigers, Asian elephants and a variety of birds.
The Nagarhole national park and tiger reserve allows jungle safari twice a day, 6:00 am and 3.30 pm. The safari is usually an open jeep and lasts for 3 hours. They take you inside the forest where you can spot wildlife, especially tigers and leopards if you are lucky! The safari costs about INR 1500 per person.

We stayed in these cottages in Machaan wildlife resorts. The place was beautiful amidst the lush greens, away from all the noise. It is also very close to the forest entrance. The resort provided all 3 meals and also helped us book the safari. The above photo is a sunrise view from the cottage we stayed. The place is an eco-resort so you don’t have air conditioning and television in the rooms.

The forest by itself is extremely beautiful. Since we went in the month of June, which was almost the start of monsoon, the forest was very green and the weather was great too!

The beauty about this place is, you do not spot wild animals only the safari but also on the forest roads which are open to public from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm. We spotted elephants, lots of deers and some monkeys on this road 😀
Here are few animals we spotted in our safari ❤️
